I’m Paul Huggins. Some of you might recognize my name as a newspaper reporter for Decatur Daily and Huntsville Times for 20 years. I’m also a South Huntsville native and Grissom alum. My eagerness to board pets for friends as a favor grew to keeping pets more than 90 days each year, so in 2018, I started doing it professionally. In February 2019, I was drawn to join Petz Pack because of our likeminded desire to give pets a fun and safe vacation while your away. I live a short walk from Mountain Gap School. My house has a fully shaded back yard with privacy fence and is located near the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. I welcome all shapes and sizes of dogs.

Lincoln thinks Paul is the BOMB!!!
Paul is such a blessing. With work travel and vacation trips, leaving my Cavapoo (Lincoln) was stressful. Having someone reliable that I can trust was such a God send. I was introduced to Paul through mutual friends about a year ago and the stress is completely gone for finding a sitter and knowing that Lincoln is being loved on and spoiled as much or more so as if I was at home. I do daycare with Paul once a week and all I have to do is say “Do you want to go see Mr. Paul?” and Lincoln gets all excited. I miss Lincoln when I’m away but knowing he has a great keeper gives me such peace of mind. 5 Paws, for sure.

We have been using Paul for daycare and boarding of our Boykin Spaniel (Huey) since 2021 and have had great experiences every time. Paul treats Huey like his own dog, so I never worry about him when we drop him off. He gives daily photo updates and is very easy to communicate with. We live in Nashville, but whenever we are visiting family in Huntsville or are traveling south down I-65 and can’t bring Huey along, he stays with Paul! 5 Paws.

My dog Esme absolutely adores going to Paul’s. She even knows his name when I say it now. And reacts similarly to when I ask her “Do you wanna go for a walk?” We started doing daycare and boarding with Paul mid 2022, and have been consistent members ever since. Paul has watched my pup through many holidays and last minute travels, every time giving such peace of mind knowing Esme is having a blast, either romping with the pack or lounging on a bed (or even Paul’s bed!) Knowing we have Paul as an option for traveling makes life with a dog so much easier. We will be life long clients of Paul’s and I am so thankful for Petz Pack!
Patient, trustworthy, and loves dogs!!
We love Paul!! He takes care of our two dogs with ease: standard poodle and golden doodle. Never have to worry and happy to see picture updates while we are gone! Highly recommend!!
Peace of Mind
Paul was so good with our 5 month old corgi pup and our 6 month old aussie mix. Leaving them for the first time was hard, but after the meet and greet I knew this was the right option for us and them. I truly appreciate the updates, videos, pics and incredible responsiveness since I was nervous leaving them for the first time. Gave me the peace of mind knowing they were being taken care of and getting much needed socialization. Thank you so much again!!
Perfect stay
We boarded our Newfoundland with Paul at PetzPack. It was a fantastic stay for our pup! She’s 150+lbs and had lots of room to stretch her legs, play with dogs her size, and she came back happy! I highly recommend Paul for your canine’s overnight stays. We had such peace of mind while away.
Paul takes great care of my dogs
I highly recommend taking your dogs to stay with Paul. Mine have stayed with him a number of times for day care and longer overnight stays and they always come home happy and tired. Paul’s home is very accommodating for the dogs and they have a big yard to run around in. I have a large lab mix with some fear of strangers but he took to Paul right away. And I currently have an old dog with some issues I left with Paul for several days. I didn’t worry about him while I was away because I trust them with Paul.
We Love Paul!
Lutzie loves Paul which means I love Paul! Every time he sees Paul at drop off he gives him a BIG great dane hug. Paul sends the best pictures and Lutzie always comes home exhausted and happy. I love knowing when I travel my boy is happy and feels like he is at another one of his homes!
Paul Is Awesome
Paul completely made me feel at ease leaving my pup pup with him. I loved that I knew he was in a safe well maintained environment. He kept me up to date with pictures and I could tell my dog was comfortable. I will definitely be using Paul again for boarding and Day Care.
Finally....Guilt free travel
My little Wylie weighs in at 5 lb. I haven’t really been anywhere for two years because I didn’t have a good place for my little guy. Then we found Paul Huggins…what a Godsend!!! Wylie stayed for 4 nights and barely gave me a nod when I came to get him! He was hanging with the big dogs and had a great time. Paul was so kind to send me pictures & texts about Wylie’s adventures. I am beyond excited about our new friend!! Thank you Paul!!! I wish I could give you 10 paws!!!
Uncle Paul is what we call him!
We all just love the care and attention Paul gives to our fur baby..he treats her like family! Our goldendoodle can be very anxious especially around new people and pets and Paul eased her right into his home at our first visit. He was the 3rd person with in-home boarding that we met with (other 2 were with another company) and we loved the info he provided about the care given. We could tell he loves what he does and that makes a big difference! GiGi loves going there and we feel comfortable leaving her there.. in fact she always comes home extra spoiled by Uncle Paul!
Paul is the dog whisperer!
I don’t know how Paul does it – he either has the utmost patience, be deaf, or incredibly well at handling dogs. Whenever our two anxious dachshunds stay with him (even sleep in his bed) he sends pictures of them all sprawled out relaxing or having fun. The other day, we has a friend’s dog over to our home and they continuously barked or wanted what the other had. I know Paul talks about pack mentality, but the three here that day, all seemed to be wanting to be the Alpha. My hat’s off to Paul.

A vacation for your fur babies!
There’s nowhere else I would take our fur babies than to see Paul! He has turned into “Uncle Paul” at our house! Our dogs get so excited when you ask them if they want to go there! Paul goes above and beyond making them feel right at home! Mine hate coming back home! I get the best pictures and videos when we’re away. It’s just such a relief to know they are in the best hands! I’m forever thankful we found Paul and I know Buster & Bagle are too!
The BEST!
Paul with Mountain Gap Pack is the BEST! He makes it super easy to book a stay, drop off and pick up our over enthusiastic boxer. Our boxer always comes home super tired, so I know he has gotten plenty of play time while at Paul’s home. Paul always sends us pictures and videos of our dog, letting us know he is having a great time. Our family has known Paul for many years, and he has truly been a blessing to us in his care of our crazy, loveable, boxer!
Paul is the best
We and our Yorkie, Bailey, love Paul. Besides providing a great, convenient place to leave Bailey when we travel, Paul has helped Bailey improve his social skills and not be such an overwhelming eight pound alpha male. ?

Paul has been a wonderful sitter for my dog Butter. I have a big lab mix who can be a little skittish around new situations and people. Paul quickly saw how to gain my dog’s trust and now Butter is excited to go spend the day and play with the other dogs. Paul takes Butter to the dog park and on hikes and Butter always comes home happy and calm. I would definitely recommend Paul to anyone looking for someone to watch their dog.

He made me and my dogs feel comfortable and at ease beginning with the meet and greet and throughout their stay with Paul. He sent videos and pictures every day, carried the dogs to the dog park, and also to the Natural trail. He treated my dogs like they were his own.

Paul has kept my Greta many times while I’ve gone on family vacations. Most times he has had her for at least a week. The best thing he does is send me a photo of her relaxing, walking, or taking over a larger dogs bed. He not only cares for her, but has a relationship with her. Greta also has to have medicine in her eye every night and he has taken great care to make sure this is done. Paul is always our first choice in dog care. We know with him she is safe, loved and spoiled.

Paul was great with our lab. He was very attentive and responsive with communication. He sent pictures and videos with each update. On the second day of the stay, Paul spent individual time with our dog to keep him active. We will be booking with Paul again.

Paul did great with our energetic pup of eight months. Our husky mix has a ton of energy. He took them to a dog park to run around and play daily. Our pup came home very relaxed and worn out. Paul even rearranged his furniture to put down a large rug for the dogs to play on because the dogs needed traction to play wrestle. I would use Paul as a sitter again.

Paul has kept our Weimaraner (Biscuit) several times now, from just an overnight visit to a 3 week stay while we were out of country. During that time, he even took our dog to the vet when she showed signs of intestinal worms. She loves her time there and gets plenty of walks and snuggles. Even though I know she’s happy when we return, her time at Paul’s is her own little vacation. She has also enjoyed making new dog friends, as Paul has kept other friends’ dogs at the same time. He truly has a gift for introducing dogs to each other.

Paul is an absolutely amazing dog sitter. He has been taking care of my dogs for years. I travel frequently for work and he always takes the best care of my dogs. Not only does he treat them as his own, he gives them the utmost attention and care. He goes above and beyond. In addition to the expected walking, feeding, and caring for them, he takes them on outings, hikes, and dog friendly events around the city so I know they are getting lots of love and specialized attention when I am gone. Additionally he is always willing to answer questions or send pictures if I’m missing my pup. It also melts my heart and gives me comfort when I see how excited my dogs are anytime they get to see him.

I have known Paul many years. He is a stand up guy and above reproach. I and many of my friends use him as a dog-sitter when needed. We refer to him as our “Dog Whisperer”, due to the fact he is so very good in handling the hounds. I had a time recently (about a year) when I was working 3 12 hour days per week. During that period, Paul volunteered to see to my Cayenne on those days and visited with my elderly mother. Granted, he did that for me as a friend, but that shows you what kind of person he is.

Paul was great with my three fur babies. He sent me lots of pictures and a video to update me on their stay. It was great knowing they were having such a good time. He was wonderful with my old baby. She can be cranky sometimes because well she’s old and can’t see well or hear. He also had my deaf puppy to take care of. I am very happy with Paul Huggins as the host/caretaker for my dogs and I am very comfortable leaving my dogs with him. He is very good at caring for the dogs and making them comfortable in his home. Recommended.

I have been taking Doug to Paul at Mtn. Gap Petzpack for about a year. Doug gets so excited when he knows he is going to Paul’s. Doug loves being around the other members of the pack. Doug is worn out when he gets home.

What a wonderful place for Oreo to be during the day!
I can’t say enough, how much my dog loves Paul. We turn on his street and she starts wiggling and watching out the window for him to come get her. She is getting great contacts and socialization with other dogs and puppies her age. She comes home and takes a nap before beginning her evening at home. We didn’t come during Fall Break, and she was so excited to see him after a week of not going!
